The First Czech Command of a Foreign Mission Successfully Completed
12.01.2021
After seven months, the historically first command of a foreign mission by a Czech Armed Forces commander and staff ends. BG František Ridzák handed over command of the EUTM-Mali training mission on 12 January 2021 to the Spanish successor, BG Fernando Luis Garcia Herreiz.
The mission was successfully completed despite all the unexpected obstacles that encountered it. A team of more than 40 members had to deal with two waves of COVID-19 pandemic and a coup. Both have limited training for some time, the main task of the European Union training mission in the region.
For his successful command of the EUTM-M, General Ridzák received the French Gold Medal for Service Abroad "la médaille d´or de la défense nationale francaise".
